First time Cross country skiing

So I was able to borrow some skate cross country skis, however I've heard it's easier to start with classic Cross country skiing. So I met a friend at the high school near my house where they have a groomed track for skiing and also go off onto trails. The girl was bringing her girls for lessons and then she let me wear her classic skis and kind of told me what to do. She just recently moved here too and is still learning. So I basically just practiced around the track and would go down a couple little hills onto the trails where you're surrounded by trees. Very beautiful. I really enjoyed it (never fell thanks to the ski polls) and look forward to getting better. I practiced for about an hour and then I took her girls home.
When i was almost home, I was coming up to a red light where I needed to turn right onto Elmore rd, I started to slow down then started to slide. I couldn't turn or do anything to stop. I did hit the lady in front of me. She was super nice about it. She said she saw me sliding and tried to move forward a little. We were both fine, the cars were fine. What a blessing. That's my first and hopefully my last accident since we've been here (although Glen did slide into a snow bank). We have waited way too long to get snow tires. That's Glen's assignment this week.

First weeks in Anchorage

I think the pictures come up in random order, but these are just some pictures over the first few weeks in Anchorage.

We lived with the Anderson family for a couple of weeks before we found a house to rent. The boys are zonked out.

In the Anderson's backyard.

Our stuff moved in the garage.

Fun in the Anderson home. They were so nice to have us.

Our home we're renting. The three things the boys were most excited about was having a fireplace, garage, and our own mailbox. haha. Love it.

Other view of our stuff in the garage. The men helping were troopers. It was even snowing a little.

Yeah, green smoothie time.

Kade threw a hard snowball and scratched up Bryson's face.

Kade says he's seen 28 moose, I'm sure we've seen more than that.

Kade ready to try ice skating on the Anderson's basketball court that they transform for winter.

Upside-down Icicle

Ok. So this is my first attempt at doing a post through the app on my phone. It's a random post, but we thought this upside down icicle was pretty cool. There's a small leak from the pipe going out the side of our house and it just kept freezing over.

Just an update, Kade had broken off that icicle yesterday, and then Glen brought it in tonight, broke it to pieces and used it in the ice cream maker. He made some yummy strawberry ice cream and then we watched that "Alaska" movie from like 1996. My mom passed it on to us. It's actually pretty good. Kade loved it. We had a great evening as a family.
